On the afternoon of November 11, between 2:30 and 3:00 PM, Borobekra Police Station, which had been sheltering internally displaced persons (IDPs), and the nearby CRPF Post in Jakuradhor, Jiribam District, came under simultaneous attack by militants. The assailants, armed with sophisticated weaponry, including RPGs (rocket-propelled grenades) and automatic firearms, launched a heavy assault on both security installations. Several nearby houses were also set ablaze and damaged during the attack.

The CRPF and Civil Police stationed at the sites retaliated forcefully, leading to an intense 40-45 minute exchange of gunfire. The situation was brought under control after the militants were driven back. Following the ceasefire, security forces conducted a thorough search of the area and recovered the bodies of 10 armed militants, all wearing military fatigues. The deceased militants were found to have been carrying a significant cache of weapons, including AK-47 rifles, SLRs (Self Loading Rifles), INSAS rifles, an RPG, a pump-action gun, as well as bulletproof helmets and magazines. Two of the recovered weapons were later identified as having been looted from a police armory.
The statement clarified that the militants were not ambushed, but instead killed during the retaliatory fire from security forces. Had the security forces not taken swift action, the damage could have been far worse, authorities emphasized. Investigations revealed that the militants were from the distant districts of Churachandpur and Pherzawl, and had traveled a long distance to Jiribam to execute their attack.
During the conflict, one CRPF constable, Sanjeev Kumar, sustained a bullet injury and was evacuated to Silchar Medical College in Assam, where he is currently receiving medical treatment. Reinforcement teams consisting of Assam Rifles, CRPF personnel, and Civil Police were quickly deployed to the area, and operations to flush out remaining militants in and around Jakuradhor and Borobekra are ongoing.
Following the attack, 13 IDP civilians were reported missing. However, three individuals were later rescued from the nearby area of Guakhal by a joint team of Police and Assam Rifles. Further searches in Jakuradhor village, which had been partially burnt down by the militants, led to the discovery of two dead bodies, identified as Maibam Kesho Singh (75) and Laishram Barel (61), both from Modhupur. One other individual was found alive, while another civilian IDP returned to the police station camp of their own accord.

Authorities have reiterated that the initial claims being circulated on social media regarding the involvement of security forces in foul play are completely unfounded. They assured that the actions taken by the CRPF and Manipur Police were in direct response to an attack by heavily armed militants, and their swift retaliation likely prevented further loss of life and property.
The situation remains under active investigation, and authorities are calling for calm and cooperation from the public to ensure a peaceful resolution to the ongoing operations.
